OUR VISION

Through its business units, METCO Group aims to develop a pool of competences which complement each other and offer a one-stop partner for our customers.

Our vision is that each business unit has specific and unique expertise that can be shared amongst the group meaning each business unit will benefit from the knowledge and capability of the other entities. The result is a close network of skill working under one umbrella providing added value for our customers.

To ensure the Group’s integrity and consistency, we keep a controlling interest in every business unit. We also strive to create and build long-term relationships with our customers, taking time to listen and support their needs.

OUR CAPABILITIES

METCO Group is an active player in the fields of:

Marine Survey and Consultancy | Compliance and Testing

These core capabilities are an integral part of our offering across the Marine, Goods Production, Structural, and Mechanical Engineering industries.

We understand business is about integrity and networking. We also recognise that by working together, a team can achieve more than an individual. This why our business units have independent structures and management, creating a solid foundation to the service we offer our customers.

MARINE SURVEY AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT

Our Survey Department sits under the banner of METCO Marine Services. It focusses on the Marine Transport Insurance Market, and ship or large yacht survey, brokerage and management.

The skills, knowledge and network we develop through METCO are fully transferrable to other industries.

COMPLIANCE TESTING

The need to understand standards and meet compliance requirements is often overlooked by engineering businesses and can quickly derail any project. Materials and Testing Laboratories has expertise in destructive and non-destructive testing in compliance with New Zealand construction and fabrication codes, or IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) rules.

Materials and Testing Laboratories is IANZ (International Accreditation New Zealand) accredited, meaning it has been formally and independently assessed by an authoritative accreditation body and passed as competent in five key areas:

  • Competence and experience of staff
  • Integrity and traceability of equipment and materials
  • Technical validity of methods
  • Validity and suitability of results
  • Compliance with appropriate management systems standards and competent to carry out its services in a professional, reliable and efficient manner

IANZ complies with ISO/IEC 17011 Conformity Assessment – General Requirements for Accreditation Bodies Accrediting Conformity Assessment Bodies standard. It also meets the requirements of the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) and those of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

METCO Group was incorporated in 2005 around survey and heavy engineering capabilities.

The group expanded in 2016 with the integration of Materials and Testing Laboratories, bringing new capabilities and reaching new markets.

Today we are opening our services to the Large Yacht industry through a partnership with MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Broker association) member, Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage (BGYB), a top-end yacht broker / manager who we represent throughout New Zealand.

While METCO Group is already working amongst the yachting world high-end products, this is an exciting opportunity for offering our comprehensive knowledge directly to the end users.

Our ventures for 2019 have yet to be written but we are already working on serious leads adding capabilities and reaching into new markets, creating greater overall value for our customers.

In a true open-minded spirit, we will achieve our goals through the right vehicle, be they organic growth, merger, acquisition or start-ups.
